Kartel’s actions, which included ordering the murder of his associate and conspiring to commit a felony, have no place in the reggae and dancehall music scene. His music may have brought him fame and fortune, but it cannot be used to justify his violent behavior.
The real issue here is not Kartel’s personal brand, but rather the need for justice and accountability in our communities. The Gleaner’s editorial seems more concerned with protecting Kartel’s legacy than with addressing the systemic issues that led to his actions.
