SDC Asset Maps Support Community Development and National Planning
The Social Development Commission (SDC) is utilising asset mapping to support community development and inform targeted interventions across Jamaica. Asset maps are available for all 775 communities served by the commission, which are colour-coded to reflect varying levels of need and opportunity.
These maps provide a geographic visualisation of the communities, highlighting areas of high need, potential, and opportunity. By examining the asset map, policymakers and development practitioners can better understand the strengths and challenges of each community, and develop targeted interventions to address these needs.
This approach to community development and planning is part of the SDC’s broader efforts to support the country’s development goals, including the reduction of poverty and the improvement of living standards.
