Nigeria’s football federation embroiled in crisis as FIFA and CAF launch investigation into leadership issues.
FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have directed the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to suspend its ongoing electoral process while they assess the legal, governance, administrative, and electoral implications of the recent developments.
The directive, issued in a letter dated September 7, was sent to NFF Deputy General Secretary Emmanuel Ikpeme by FIFA’s Chief Member Associations Officer Elkhan Mammadov. The decision means the NFF will have to put its electoral process on hold until further notice.
The crisis in the NFF leadership has sparked concerns among football fans and stakeholders in the country, with many calling for a resolution to the issue.
